Hell! It's been another boatload of time since I added anything to this site. Although I won't go into a lot of detail in this venue, suffice to say that the last couple of months have been busy and draining.
We had a great visit to Ohio in early August, where Claire, Alex and I saw Grandma and Mom. Grandma was doing pretty well, and it had been such a long time since I'd been there. It was a very nice weekend.
Since I last reported, Alex hasn't changed a bit. Ha Ha! Just checking to see if anyone is paying attention! Of course he has changed; he's started shaving and asking to borrow the car.
All funnies aside, it's a gas to watch Alex grow and develop. He has a fondness for all things vehicular, calling out "Caw! Caw!" and "Trush! Trush!" and even "Bus! Bus!" (he pronounces that one right) at all the right times. His favorite book is a board book with lots of pictures of trucks (titled Trucks, oddly enough), and he loves pointing at the various pictures and having a parent name the object. He'll note trains, and even pick out airplanes passing overhead.
All this leaves Claire and me wondering where he picks this up; it's not like she or I are particularly gung ho on the subject. Gender programming just seems so powerful...
His mouth is full of teeth, and he's happy to show them in a big grin. He's also very interested in watching the small herd of deer we have living in our back yard (5 deer so far). He'll point to the back door and state "Dee! Dee!" and away we go to see what they're up to.
He's over 30 pounds now, so both Claire and I are having increasingly sore shoulder muscles from hefting him about...
We haven't been taking many pictures of him (or anyone else, for that matter), which explains the dearth of new photos. Once Erika gets back from Sweden at the end of the week, I'll be able to get a hold of the photos we took on our Puerto Rico trip at the beginning of July, and I will upload some of them when I get a chance.
